I A blue world of flickering light A world of speckled scales Of dots and streaks and rings On creatures which move as They wish in a vivid world Which is theirs. Now the light is faint, the water muddied. The shades and tones have Faded in a warming world Fast emptying it of Colour and life. II The miles of line are Dragged through their world By humans on the surface. The noose draws ever closer Ensnaring those trying to escape From a treacherous mesh made by us. And then they are taken by force From their world to satisfy Our fads and fancies. An unknown vastness Has come to know our greed. Seemingly safeguarded In a world so different from ours, It has now come to know The unstoppable contagion Of human interference. |
