They’re led by a fear of change A longing for an unmoving past Just among their own, a past Viewed with tinted eyes. Then one came offering The freedom to tell lies And claim they’re true. Parading a show of strength To silence any who disagree And lull his followers Into willing submission. Then came the welling up Of contained hatred, An unchecked freedom To loathe and condemn others: Exhilarating, intoxicating. Here is the poison of Intolerance and dismissal. Telling us outright to Ignore our lying eyes Distrust our lying ears: Manufacture a narrative And sell it as truth. The only view is that of power The only stance is that of control Unfettered authority Hitting out at the weak While surrounded by Grovelling flatterers And conniving enablers Pitching for their advantage And forcing all to accept Their vision for the land. |
