   In the Garden of Remembrance
Sway of the sword
Glamour of the gun
Have ruled our visions.
Death for the nation
The greatest sacrifice.

Such death suppressed all doubt
Those who dared to question
Were covered with
A cloak of silence.

Readiness to die meant
Some could take life
And speak for others.
Never question the price
Nor ask if others would accept
Their confining views.

We should have turned and
Searched for another way
And at least with less loss
Have reached the same end.
